Made his PDC world tournament debut in 2000 in the Matchplay in
Blackpool, but went out at the first hurdle against Rod Harrington -
although not without a fight. It was the same story against Richie Burnett
in round one of the World Grand Prix in 2000.
Having warmed up to the big events Scholten made the quarterfinals of
the Skol in 2001 before going all the way to the final of the World Grand
Prix where he lost out to Alan Warriner.
